I would sell my soul for a pair of Hellbounds or Litas
“I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me!”
His acting in this sceen has such an impact.
“No parent should have to bury their child.”
I’m just going to go on about this scene for a bit. Feel free to delete.
This scene is the one scene in the whole trilogy which never fails to break my heart. It’s so easy to get caught up in the side of the battle which is strictly who is winning and who is losing, who is bad and who is good, that you forget there are real people in it. This scene, in which Theoden is grieving for his son who was slaughtered by Uruk-hai, is simply that. A father mourning the loss of his son. It is a reminder of how, when the war has been won, there are still losses. There is still death and grief. War makes children parent-less, and parents child-less, no matter how victorious their side may be.
